CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday said that the Government had instituted a cash award of Rs.1 lakh to be awarded annually to the best architect of the State Architecture Department. Releasing the ``Standard Designs Brochure” brought out by the Haryana Department of Architecture here, Mr.Hooda said that the Government was formulating a plan to train the architects abroad to enhance their skills. ‘Attractive designs’Mr Hooda said that the new Government buildings which were now coming up in the State had attractive designs. Commissioner and Secretary, Architecture K.K. Jalan said that the architects worked not only behind the stage, but also during various stages of construction. He said that his predecessor Dharam Vir had conceived the idea of bringing out the Brochure. Rs.1.000 cr. investmentHe disclosed that the State Public Works (Building and Roads) Department was constructing buildings involving an investment of Rs. 1,000 crore. Chief Architect Ashwani Sabharwal said that the Department had evolved architectural designs for all the upcoming projects incorporating latest techniques in modern architecture. Chief Secretary Promilla Issar and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister M.L.Tayal, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Revenue Dharam Vir and senior officers were also present.
