Drive intensified

CUDDALORE: Law-enforcing authorities have intensified the drive against smuggling of Indian Made Foreign Liquor from across Puducherry and illicit distillation.

According to Collector Rajendra Ratnoo, they acted promptly on telephone messages, numbering 2,306 calls so far, and arrested 1,801 arrack peddlers.

In a statement released here, Mr. Ratnoo called upon the people to provide information about illicit trade and transportation over mobile phones 93676 46902, 92454 93535, and telephones 04142-284333 and 284353.

The identity of the informers would be kept confidential, he added.
