Mourned

BANGALORE: Governor Rameshwar Thakur has condoled the death of the former Union Minister Basavarajeshwari. In his message, he said: “Basavarajeshwari devoted her entire life to social service and was associated with issues pertaining to emancipation of women’s rights and she had identified herself with the people and was quick to raise issues in Parliament concerning them.”

The former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh has also condoled the death of Basavarajeshwari. “In her death the State had lost an eminent personality who had served in various capacities in the State and Centre and taken up several programmes in the Welfare Department when she was the Minister,” he said in his message. — Staff Reporter
