‘Implement pay panel recommendations’

Bangalore: The Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association has urged the Government to implement the recommendations, including those pertaining to the retired employees, of the Fifth Pay Commission.

Association president L. Byrappa told presspersons here on Wednesday that the KSGEA had submitted a charter of demands to Governor Rameshwar Thakur. Although Mr. Thakur had promised that he would consider the demands, the Government was yet issue the orders to that effect. The KSGEA would discuss the issue at its general body meeting to be held on February 28 and decide over the future course, he added.

Some of the major demands are: payment of arrears (April1, 2006 to March 31, 2007) in April, 2008 in compliance with the Pay Commission’s recommendations. Setting right the anomalies in the annual promotions that has not been addressed in the past 20 years. Extend the benefits of the Union Government’s CGHS to the State Government employees, enhance the retirement age from the existing 58 years to 60 years, regularise the services of those employees working on daily wages and D Group employees working as village assistants.
