Bangalore: The NGEF Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Employees’ Welfare Association, which has been fighting for the revival of the NGEF for several years, has urged the State Government to utilise the company to supply important parts for the trains to be operated by the Bangalore Metro. President of the association Doddamani Dasharath called on the Adviser to the Governor S. Krishnakumar here on Tuesday and impressed upon him to revive the NGEF in the interest of the large number of employees who have been retrenched from service. A large number of such employees were without employment and consequently their families were in distress, he said. Mr. Dasharath told the adviser that the NGEF could be utilised to provide a number of moving parts for the trains of the Bangalore metro. The NGEF used to supply master controllers, cam shaft controllers and traction motors to the Calcutta Metro. “The Bangalore Metro can herald a new horizon to the ailing NGEF which has been under closure for years.” The association has pleaded that the Adviser issue directions to the Principal Secretary of the Department of Commerce and Industries to restart the NGEF factory in the same premises
