Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: The screening of ‘Tare Zameen Par’ has been exempted from entertainment tax in Haryana for 12 weeks, the State Excise and Taxation Minister Birender Singh said here on Wednesday.

He said that the film deals with a sensitive social problem about children which requires urgent attention of the society. It has portrayed the issue very beautifully and tries to educate the parents and teachers how to take care of their children so that they can grow into useful members of society with self-esteem.

He said that the State Government would have to bear a loss of Rs. 15 lakh due to this exemption.
