Congress seniors put off Bhongir meeting

HYDERABAD: The public meeting planned by the senior Congress leaders from Telangana in Bhongir on March 10 has been postponed to March 24.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held at the residence of G. Venkataswamy, MP, on Wednesday following a communication received by the seniors from CWC member Mohsina Kidwai.

Sources said the message conveyed by the high command was that the meeting could be put off to a later date as AICC president Sonia Gandhi would be visiting the city on March 14 to inaugurate the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

The party leaders opined that it would be better to hold the meeting on March 24. The leaders were also informed by Mr. Venkataswamy that he would visit New Delhi on February 23 to attend a dinner hosted by the Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.
