Tunde puts NDH in semifinals
NEW DELHI: Baba Tunde struck twice as New Delhi Heroes (NDH) defeated Ahbab Club 2-1 in a group ‘A’ league match of the fourth Lt. Governor’s Cup DDA football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Wednesday.
It was Ahbab that shot into lead following a strike by Pardeep Kumar in the 28th minute. However, Tunde swung into action in a telling fashion in the dying moments to clinch a semifinal berth for New Delhi Heroes.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Mumbai, was the other team to ensure a semifinal berth from group ‘A’. ONGC did so in style with a thumping 4-0 triumph over Peerless Sports Club, Kolkata. Chukwukere Ndurin Henry, Jatin Singh Bisht, M. C. Dhanesh and Gour Naskar scored the goals for the Mumbai team.
