Four MDMK men arrested

KARUR: The Kulithalai police on Wednesday arrested four cadres belonging to the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) in connection with a complaint preferred by a cab driver that they allegedly threatened him and his friends prior to the public meeting that ended in a melee on Monday night.
Some persons, alleged to be DMK cadres, attacked and injured MDMK propaganda secretary Nanjil Sampath during that meeting.
R. Muthuselvan of Vaiganallur, Kulithalai, filed a complaint that MDMK cadres threatened him and his friends while they were in their car near the venue of the MDMK meeting prior to the commencement of the meeting.
Based on his complaint, Kulithalai police arrested M. Mohan (30), M. Panneer (34), D. Raja (40) and V. Mohan Kumar (41), all belonging to Kulithalai.
They were produced before the Judicial Magistrate II, Karur, who remanded them to 15 days judicial custody. The arrested have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Public Property Act.
Kulithalai MLA R. Manikkam has been named in the first information report.
