A complex topic

Education is a complex topic (Ref. Focus dt. 07/02/08) with manifold approaches and multidimensional characteristics. It is manifold because it has to reach to different ages and stages from KG to PG.

It is multidimensional because it has learning, memorizing, recollecting, developing understanding and applicability aspects.

Opportunities should be provided to all students for interactive learning and creative thinking on the topics and subject content. The teacher should be innovative to provide such a situation and the parent should learn to render cooperative support instead of thrusting his/her views. Policy makers should think twice before introducing subjects or courses.

For example, of what use is ‘environmental science’ when the Government itself is not giving importance to it and is implementing projects like SEZ s in prime agricultural lands.

U. Muralikrishna,

East Point Colony.
