Mangalore
MANGALORE: The Mangalore Goods Transporters’ Association has decided to join the strike called by South Zone transporters’ associations on February 22 against the compulsory installation of speed governors. President of the association Manohar Narvekar and other office-bearers told presspersons here on Wednesday, that the recent High Court Order which made the installing of speed governors compulsory was not acceptable. Installing the equipment was not an easy process and the owners of transport vehicles would have to spend a lot of money on it. Mileage affectedThe equipment also affected the mileage of the vehicles. Also, there was no supply of the seven lakh speed governors required, in the State. Operation of goods vehicles from midnight on February 22 would amount to violation of the High Court directive and hence all the goods vehicles will go off the road, they said.
