Locals rescue kidnapped girl

Two-year-old Anitha was kidnapped from Kukatpally Maid Laxmi confesses to kidnapping
HYDERABAD: Two-year-old girl Anitha, who was kidnapped allegedly by a maid Laxmi at Kukatpally on Tuesday, was rescued by locals at Nallakunta on Wednesday.
Laxmi came to her younger sister Bhagya’s house in Anjaiahnagar claiming the kid as daughter of her close relative. “As Bhagya had no children, neighbours were surprised on hearing cries of the kid in the morning,” a local said.
When the curious neighbourhood families started inquiring, Laxmi tried to convince them that the girl was daughter of her relative. However, they could not believe her version because the girl was too fair while Laxmi and Bhagya were dark in complexion. Unconvinced, the neighbours continued to grill the two sisters.
Meanwhile, someone raised doubts if the girl brought by Laxmi and the girl kidnapped from Kukatpally are the same.
An inquisitive local brought a Telugu daily in which the kidnapped girl’s photograph was published.
On seeing the photograph, they realised Laxmi was bluffing and the kid she carried was the one kidnapped from Kukatpally. Finally, the maid spilled the beans reportedly confessing to have abducted the girl.
The public reportedly called in the local police who then handed over the girl to her family members.
