New police Act sought

HYDERABAD: The Lok Satta Party on Wednesday demanded introduction of a new police Act, as suggested in the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court.

A. Lakshamana Rao, former Chief Justice, raised the demand in a representation submitted to Governor N.D. Tiwari here. He pointed out that already nine States had introduce the new Act in accordance with the SC guidelines.

He criticised the State Government for ‘dragging its feet’ on the issue.
