Sangareddy: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Medak unit has opposed the proposed allocation of 0.3 tmc of Manjeera water from Singur to Shankarpalli and Vikarabad in Ranga Reddy district at a cost of Rs. 31 crore. The party leaders warned the Congress legislators and Ministers representing the district that its cadre will not let them move in the district if they fail to stop the ‘incessant robbery’ of water from the district to Hyderabad and now Ranga Reddy district. Addressing a public meeting here on Wednesday, party State secretariat member Punyavathi alleged that the legislators belonging to the district particularly those representing the Sangareddy constituency were engrossed in earning money while major municipalities in Ranga Reddy which had no right over Manjeera water were enjoying it. Explanation soughtShe asked the government to explain the reason why not even a single hectare of additional ayacut was created in the district in the last four years. She said the district remained ‘untouched by the riches’ in neighbouring Hyderabad only because the district had no provision for irrigation and drinking water. Earlier, district secretariat member B. Mallesham said the ongoing Baga Reddy twin canal project would take two more decades to complete as only 2 km of canal work was completed in two years. time to provide 2 tmc of water in few mandals of the district.
