Vijay, Vidyut score centuries

CHENNAI: Centuries from M. Vijay, R. Prasanna, S. Sharath and S. Vidyut were the highlights of the quarterfinals of the V.A. Parthasarathy Memorial cricket Trophy tournament here on Wednesday.

Vijay (118 n.o.) added an unbroken 164 with S. Badrinath (75 n.o.) to help Jolly Rovers defeat Globe Trotters, while R. Prasanna (111) and S. Sharath (112) put on 199 as Vijay India Cements beat India Pistons.

In the other matches, S. Vidyut’s 115 powered Alwarpet Chemplast to a 75-run win and K. Sriram’s four-wicket haul enabled IOB book a semifinal spot.

The scores (quarterfinals): Globe Trotters 210 in 50 overs (Sunil Vishwanathan 54, V. Yomahesh 56) lost to Jolly Rovers 211 for two in 35.3 overs (M. Vijay 118 n.o., S. Badrinath 75 n.o.).

Vijay India Cements 294 for four in 50 overs (R. Prasanna 111, S. Sharath 112) bt India Pistons 216 in 39.3 overs (Vikram Mani 45, R. Srinivasan 74).

Alwarpet Chemplast 275 in 49.5 overs (S. Vidyut 115) bt Grand Slam India Cements 188 in 43.1 overs (Kaushik Gandhi 40).

IOB 231 in 44.5 overs (Amit Pathak 40, Y. Gnaneswara Rao 40, K.N. Anathapadmanabhan 42, S. Desappan 44, M. Shyam Sundar four for 59) bt Precision Infomatic Aruna 147 in 42.1 overs (Kishore V. Nath 62, M. Shyam Sundar 44, K. Sriram four for 23).
