KOCHI: The installation of boundary stones of the land to be acquired for the proposed metro rail project would begin within two days, District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish said here on Wednesday. This would effectively mark the beginning of the actual acquisition process, he said. The State Government allotted Rs.1 crore to meet preliminary expenses of the land acquisition process. A joint route survey was held by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation officials and the Revenue Department last week. The Collector said the government would decide on any change of alignment of the elevated rail through the MG Road. VallarpadamThe district administration would keep ready separate plots of three cents each for all 71 families who will be losing houses in land acquisition for the rail link to the proposed Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal. Draw of lots for assigning plots for the displaced would be held on Friday. Plots will be set apart for even those families who are yet to give consent letter for surrendering their land. This is done as a precautionary measure and any decision on invoking the Land Acquisition Act will be taken only after the Cabinet sub-committee meeting scheduled to be held here on Friday.
