Medaram: journalists at the receiving end

Staff Reporter

MEDARAM (WARANGAL DT.): The police lived up true to their image even at this place of worship. They did not spare even the journalists who were on duty to cover one of the important events in the State.

On the second day on Thursday, the police again behaved badly with the reporters. The newsmen who went to the Chilkalgutta to cover the arrival of Sammakka had had bitter experience with the policemen who just threw the reporters away with out any regard. The special passes issued by the Special Branch of the district police failed to save the journalists from the mindless ire of the constables on duty.

One of the gunmen accompanying the Superintendent of Police, Soumya Mishra abused reporters who came near to talk to the SP. Despite disclosing the identity, the gunman used abusive language with the journalist.

The SP and district collector could do little than requesting the newsmen to cooperate.
