BJP, Congress students attack VC’s office
Special Correspondent
AHMEDABAD: Members of the student wings of the BJP and the Congress, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and the National Students Union of India, on Thursday attacked the office of the Vice-Chancellor of Maharaja Sayajirao University in Vadodara.
Demonstrations
They also staged a joint demonstration, protesting against alleged sex scandals in the varsity.
The students damaged some furniture in the Vice-Chancellor’s office as well as other faculty buildings.
The trouble started after a former Senate member, Narendra Tiwari, who is now the president of the Baroda Bar Association, released to the media a compact disc showing several boys and girls in indecent positions on the campus.
Claiming that one incident was recorded right in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s office, he wondered how this could happen with the security personnel around.
To tighten security
A spokesman of the university said the authorities would further strengthen the security and intensify patrolling to stop indecent behaviour on the campus.
