BIDAR: As part of the “Trishul dikshe” programme, 700 youths were given “trishuls” (tridents) by members of Sri Rama Sena at a function here on Friday. State president of the Rashtriya Hindu Sena Pramod Mutalik participated in the function. The police imposed a ban on distribution of “trishuls”. But members of the sena distributed “trishuls”. Mr. Mutalik told The Hindu that the “trishuls” distributed were only 5.4 inches and did not come under the purview of the weapons Act. They were not sharp and posed no danger to anybody. — Staff Correspondent
