PUDUCHERRY: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal on Friday said the Union Territory had “a good track record of maintaining law and order.” Talking to reporters at the airport here, he said, “Puducherry is one of the most peaceful regions in the country.” Mr. Jaiswal, who arrived here by an Air Force helicopter after attending a function at Karaikal, held a meeting with Chief Secretary Rakesh Behari and Director-General of Police A.S. Khan. Issues pertaining to internal security and modernising the police force in the UT were to be discussed in the meeting, official sources said. The Minister was accorded a reception at the airport. Minister for Power and Industries V. Vaithilingam, Minister for Social Welfare M. Kandasamy and senior government officials were present. Senior Congress leader Motilal Vora accompanied Mr. Jaiswal.
