PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry Vivasayigal Sangam and the Nationalist Congress Party on Friday flayed alleged irregularities in the procurement of farm produces at some of the Agricultural Regulatory Marketing Centres in the Union Territory. In a statement here, president of the Puducherry unit of the NCP G. Sundaramoorthy said farmers from Tamil Nadu, who brought pulses to the marketing centres, had been fleeced. In a statement, general secretary of the Puducherry Vivasayigal Sangam T. Geetanathan said the farmers were defrauded by the personnel at the marketing centres at Madagadipattu and Thattanchavadi by way of improper measurement and disbursing lesser procurement price.
