Spring bounty: Punjab Governor and Administrator of Chandigarh S.F. Rodrigues along with his wife strike a pose near an umbrella of flowers after inaugurating the Rose Festival in Chandigarh on Friday. CHANDIGARH: The 36th edition of the annual Rose Festival was inaugurated on Friday by Punjab Governor and Administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh S.F. Rodrigues at the Rose Garden here. General Rodrigues declared open a tunnel decorated with roses of different colours. About 250 artistes from different States including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, U.P., Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhatisgarh, Assam and West Bengal performed folk dances. Band competitionHe also inaugurated the Brass and Pipe band competition in which 10 bands from Armed Forces and Police and Para-military forces participated. He also took a round of the photo exhibition. Various eventsThe three-day festival is a medley of various other events including Antakshri, painting and photography competitions, selection of Rose Princes and Rose Princesses, Rose Quiz, street plays and Quawali performances. Another special feature this year is display of Vintage cars at the Government Museum and Art Gallery as part of the Rose Festival.
