PUDUCHERRY: The announcement of the Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) fixing Friday as the last date for remittance of tuition fees has come as a shock to students and parents, Puducherry Munnetra Congress MLA N. Anandu has said. Through a statement here, he urged the Education Department to put an end to all apprehensions in this regard. The announcement of the PEC management was made despite the government promising to bear the responsibility of remitting the tuition fees of medical and engineering students. The management asking students selected through the Centralised Admission Committee to pay the fees immediately had left the students and parents in shock, the release added. Mr. Anandu said that the legislators would not hesitate to launch a protest along with the students if immediate steps are not taken.
