Murder mystery solved

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: With the arrest of four persons from Vijayawada, the local police unravelled the mystery behind the murder of Varanasi Janardhana Rao alias Chinni Krishna (60) at Gadikhana Street in the town on December 26 last year.

At a press conference on Friday, Additional Superintendent of Police K.K. Achari said that the accused—Md. Javed (29), Sk. Nagul Meera (28), Marapaka Rambabu (30) and Amarlapudi Vijayakumar (27)-- had taken away gold chain, two gold rings, two cell phones and Rs.15,000 after hitting him to death with a club. Based on the phone calls made through the two mobile phones, the police could trace them. Mr. Achari said the trader had allegedly hired the accused for Rs. 50,000 to kill his watchman, who filed a writ petition against him for not settling his salary arrears. But, the four allegedly hatched a plan to eliminate the trader for more money. The accused were remanded to custody.
