Lawyers to step up agitation

Staff Reporter

BERHAMPUR: Lawyers, who have been agitating for the last 81 days seeking establishment of a High Court bench in Berhampur, have decided to oppose the entry of local MLAs and MPs into Ganjam district if no positive step was taken by February 26. The elected representatives also include Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the action committee in the city on Friday. It was attended by representatives of all Bar associations of the district as well as those from Gajapati and Kandhamal districts.

Secretary of the Ganjam Bar Association Mohan Singari said the State Home Secretary had sent a message that the Home Department had completed all file work. The file was now with the Chief Minister.
