It will be developed in public-private partnership mode The festival to be organised in April third week BHUBANESWAR: As part of its initiative to explore and promote beach tourism in the State, the Tourism Directorate has resolved to develop Talasari beach in Balasore district in a big way. A meeting held here on Friday chaired by Tourism Minister Mr. Debi Prasad Mishra and attended by Tourism Secretary Mr. Parag Gupta, Bhogarai legislator Anant Das and Balasore district Collector A.C. Padhiary decided to draw a master plan for the beach that attracts tourists from neighbouring States of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar for its locational advantage. Infrastructure“The large number of tourists who throng the hot-spot of Digha near the Orissa-West Bengal border prefer to trek to Talasari that is a few km away. Hence, with proper infrastructure and publicity, it can be developed into a much favoured destination for the tourists,” the Minister pointed out. Master planMr. Mishra directed the Tourism Directorate and the district administration to prepare a master plan for Talasari and take up a survey of the land position for acquisition and infrastructure development within two weeks. “We plan to develop it in public-private partnership mode,” Mr. Mishra stated. To highlight the spot, the directorate, in association with the district administration, would host annual cultural festival at Talasari. “It would be for three to five days and would be known as Samudra Mahotsav. The festival would be launched during the third week of April this year,” the meeting decided. The departments of culture, tourism and sports and youth services of the State would provide necessary support for the event that would showcase dance, music and competitive sports, it was explained. Since a tourists’ guest house had come up at Talasari recently, people participating and attending the festival would be able to stay at this beach for longer periods, the hosts hoped.
