Start gauge conversion work at once: Sivakasi MP
VIRUDHUNAGAR: Sivakasi MP A. Ravichandran has expressed anguish over the inordinate delay in commencing gauge conversion work in the Virudhunagar-Manamadurai section.
“This section has been made an island as gauge conversion work in Madurai-Rameswaram and Tiruchi-Karaikudi sections have already been completed. But, the work between Virudhunagar and Manamadurai has remained a non-starter for almost an year despite the Railway Ministry allocating Rs.25 crore in the Railway budget (2007-08),” Mr. Ravichandran said.
Despite repeated representations the work had not been taken up, the reason for which was not known, he said. Stating that he had been touring his constituency in the last four days, he said that the roads in the district were in a bad condition
The MP, who handed over a memorandum urging the district administration to repair the roads, said that he would mobilise people to protest if there was any delay.
Mr. Ravichandran also found fault with the district administration for not taking steps to establish a Kendriya Vidayala in the district.
