Rs. 532.89 lakh sanctioned for road repair and bridge works

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T.R. Baalu has approved Rs.532.89 lakh for road improvement works and reconstruction of minor bridges on National Highway 208 in Tamil Nadu. A sum of Rs.270.77 lakh has been approved for strengthening a stretch between Pudupatti and Thirumangalam Road, which provides inter-State connectivity and passes through Tenkasi, Rajapalayam and Srivilliputtur. It also connects the tourism centres of Coutrallam and Madurai. The road was badly damaged during last monsoon.An amount of Rs.262.12 lakh has been approved for reconstruction of five minor bridges between Sethur and Rajapalayam, which have developed cracks. The reconstruction will conform to National Highway standards.
