NEW DELHI: The Governing Body of St. Stephen’s College on Friday decided to “close the matter” pertaining to issuance of show-cause notices to two senior lady lecturers of its History Department. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Bishop S. K. Singh. “The Bishop told the Governing Body that the matter stands closed and I treat the matter as closed,” said Principal Valson Thampu on Friday evening. “This was not a personal matter of vanity for me. It should not be seen in a wretched pattern of defeat and victory. I have no negativity towards anyone. The interest of students is paramount to me,” he said.

The teachers -- Tasneem Suhrawardy and Sangeeta Luthra Sharma -- will be officially informed about the decision.
