Spirited lot: Students of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute having fun at their college day celebrations. PUDUCHERRY: Away from classrooms and laboratories, their stethoscopes discarded, medical students of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute at Pillaiyarkuppam near here celebrated their college day recently. Enthusiastic students participated in a range of activities, including music and dance competitions, fashion show, mono-acting, quiz and sports. Bulletin released“We released a college bulletin called ‘Chronicle’ on the occasion. It will be published once in three months and distributed to medical colleges across the country. It will consist of articles on innovative programmes of the college,” dean D.R. Gunasekaran said. During the college day celebrations, Dr. Gunasekaran asked the students to be vigilant and learn as much as they can during their student life. Professor K.S.V.K. Subba Rao, director of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, participated in the celebrations. Dr. Rao requested the medical students to be kind and considerate while dealing with patients. He urged the students to extend help to the downtrodden, and to be sincere and dedicated to medical service. Prizes were also distributed on the occasion. Chairman of Sri Balaji Educational and Charitable Public Trust M.K. Rajagopalan and director of the college James J. Gnanadoss spoke on the occasion.
