Cooperative Dept. to run supermarkets

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government will shortly open 30 supermarkets to be operated by the State Cooperative Department in 26 districts of the State. The stores will make available goods at reasonable prices to consumers and strengthen the cooperative movement.

Good prices for artisans

State Cooperative Minister Nathu Singh Gujjar said while inaugurating a cooperative fair in Ajmer over the weekend that the new concept of supermarkets directly run by a government outfit would ensure remunerative prices to rural artisans and provide quality material to consumers.

Mr. Gujjar said the Cooperative Department had earned a profit of Rs.1.57 crore after doing business worth Rs.42 crore in the previous year.
