SRINAGAR: A strong desire to see a peaceful Kashmir was reflected at the daylong exhibition of prose, poems and paintings by young minds of the Valley at a competition organised by the Act Now for Harmony and Democracy (ANHAD), a Delhi-based NGO. The exhibition was inaugurated on the first day of a three-day Youth Festival organised by ANHAD. Photojournalist Habib Naqash inaugurated the exhibition and later distributed prizes to the participants who had told their stories based on their experiences in a conflict situation. “Where there is no peace there is no limit to sufferings,” read a brief essay by Rubina Akhtar, a student of the Government College, Kulgam. She further wrote: “Our goal must be not peace in our times but for all times.” The works on display discussed the trauma of the people at length and how they as youth have been viewing it. “The urge for living in peace is visible among these youngsters” said Nasir Mirza, teacher at Kashmir University. “This cannot be ignored as they are our future and they have to live here.” Bilal Ahmad Shah, a school student from Naid Khai, Baramulla, summed up his fear with these lines: “Without anybody’s bang at his door, there is peace and there is justice.”
