GNLF is not finished, says Ghising

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: Subhas Ghising, administrator of the Darjeeling Hill Council (DGHC), has ruled out his resignation saying that it is an irrelevant issue and the question does not arise.

He has also said that the Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) was not finished and it was in control.

Talking to reporters after a nearly 45-minute meeting with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee at the State Secretariat on Saturday, he said he had come to apprise the Chief Minister of the situation in Darjeeling and of his meetings in Delhi.

He had had detailed talks with the Chief Minister but was unwilling to divulge what transpired.

To a question on whether GNLF’s popularity was waning in the hills he shot back : “GNLF khatam nei huya ” (the GNLF is not finished) adding that things were very much in control.

However, he had not gone there because he did not want clashes or confrontation.
