41 companies registered in Ernakulam district 11.32 p.c. relates to manufacturing sector KOCHI: A total of 159 companies, with authorised capital of more than Rs.60 crore, were registered in Kerala in January this year under the Companies Act. A communication from the Registrar of Companies, Kerala, said here on Saturday that out of the 159 companies registered, five were public limited companies with total authorised capital of Rs.16.15 crore and the remaining were private limited companies, accounting for a total authorised capital of Rs.46.99 crore. In January, V-Guard Industries Limited also filed red-herring prospectus for its first public issue. The issue secured encouraging response from the public. Forty-one companies registered in Ernakulam district during this period. This is the highest in the State for the month. Thiruvananthapuram registered 37 companies and Thrissur 19. As many as 31 companies were registered in the Industrial Classification Business Services. Thirty were registered as trading companies while 29 real estate companies were registered. Of the total registrations, 11.32 per cent formed the manufacturing sector, while 19.50 per cent of the companies were in the business service sector, 11.32 per cent in the construction sector, 18.24 per cent in the real estate sector and 18.87 per cent in the trading sector. During January, 12 non-government companies were registered in the category of companies with authorised capital of Rs.50 lakh and above.
