This Day That Age
The All-India Social Welfare Day, sponsored by the Indian Conference of Social Work, was observed in Madras on February 21 by the Madras School of Social Work, at their premises in Casa Major Road, Egmore. Mr. John Wiggin, Cultural Affairs Officer, USIS, Madras, presided. Mrs. Clubwala Jadhav, Secretary, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Wiggin stated that social work in America had developed as a kind of personally organised philanthropy, like the foundations of Rockefeller, Ford and others.
