KORAPUT: The Revolving fund for meeting the emergency needs of MANAS, the special school –cum- vocational training centre for the mentally challenged at Koraput has failed to get regenerated over the years for lack of adequate support from the Government. The institution which was established in Koraput in 2001 has primarily been managed with the assistance from District Red cross apart from receiving the lone support of Rs.5.66 lakh from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, New Delhi, Bidyadhar Pramanik, the Principal –in-charge of the institution said. The funding situation got worse over the years. The institution which had begun with 20 specially challenged children is now running with 56 children and 12 staff members making it the most difficult challenge to face, Mr. Pramanik added. Looking at the uncertainty over receiving funds at regular intervals from the Government and other agencies, the district administration had placed Rs.10 lakh with the institution as a revolving fund to meet emergency requirement and replace the same after receiving grants and aid.
