Muzaffarnagar: In a decade-old case, six people were on Sunday sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment on charges of abduction and attempt to murder. Additional Session’s judge Vir Singh Rana held Anil, Brijpal, Jara Banjara, Bamti, Mahipal and Bulliya Baharsi guilty of abducting a businessman on February 23, 1998. A fine of Rs.5,000 has also been imposed on each of the six accused. According to prosecution, trader Sushil Kumar (30) was abducted from his establishment on February 23, 1998 and a ransom of Rs.5 lakh was demanded for his release. Police later rescued the victim on March 10, 1998 and arrested the six accused.
