BERHAMPUR: A racket involved in trafficking of minor girls from rural areas of Ganjam district to Uttar Pradesh was unearthed by the police. Four persons including a woman and three persons from Uttar Pradesh (UP) were arrested by the police on Saturday while they were trying to lure some girls at Nuagada village under Begunipada police outpost. The arrested woman, Kasturi Jena was the main liaison agent behind luring minor girls of poor families. She happened to be a resident of the same area who had around five years back through some contact reached Jhansi in UP and had married a person there. According to police sources, she along with other agents from UP were making rounds of rural areas of Ganjam district for illegal trafficking of minor girls of poor families. On Saturday she along with her accomplishes were trying to lure a girl from Nuagada village. But a woman of the village, Bishnu Swain whose daughter had been taken away by Kasturi through similar lure raised an alarm in the village.
