Floral tributes: Bihar Governor R.S.Gavai and Governor N.D. Tiwari paying respects to J. Eashwari Bai on her 16th death anniversary in Hyderabad on Sunday. HYDERABAD: Bihar Governor R.S. Gavai has said the philosophy of the architect of the Constitution B.R. Ambedkar is relevant even today as it addresses the core issues facing the country. Recalling the famous quotation of Ambedkar, “We are Indians first and Indians last”, Mr. Gavai told a meeting here on Sunday that it actually implied there should be no discrimination between people of the country on the basis of their caste, creed, religion, sex and region. Mr. Gavai was addressing a meeting to mark the 16th death anniversary of former president of Republican Party of India (RPI) J. Eashwari Bai here. Mr. Gavai, a leader of RPI himself, referred to Eashwari Bai as a symbol of revolt against injustice. Governor N.D. Tiwari said a unique feature of Indian democracy is that it was controlled. Rajya Sabha member Nandi Yellaiah said Eashwari Bai was known for her powerful speeches in the separate Telangana agitation of sixties. Major Industries Minister and daughter of Eashwari Bai J. Geeta Reddy said gold medals in her mother’s memory were instituted for toppers in political science at the Osmania University. The nursing college run by Eashwari Bai memorial trust was sanctioned M.Sc. course this year.
