Power supply hit as four stations trip

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Power supply in the State was affected on Sunday when four power stations, accounting for an installed capacity of 1,100 mw, tripped due to technical problems. The APTransco imposed a cut in supply in some areas of the State and regulated it in other areas to cope with the situation.

The four distribution companies have been asked to curtail their outflow of energy by implementing load shedding, where necessary.

Normal supply is likely to be restored by Monday evening, when the tripped stations are expected to resume generation. Work on a war footing basis is on to restore them.

The four stations which tripped are: NTPC Simhadri-I (500 mw), Kothagudem Thermal Power Station-X (250 mw), GVK-I (45 mw) and GMR Power (370 mw). The GMR Power has become the latest source from where the AP Transco began to buy power.
