‘Political space for all’

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan has warned that the country faced the threat of balkanisation unless systemic changes were effected to provide political space to all groups.

Addressing a meeting organised by the party in the backdrop of attacks against non-Marathis in various parts of Maharashtra, Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan said the political situation in the country has already undergone a sea change with national parties joining hands with regional outfits. The system enabled parties identified with region, religion, language and caste to whip up narrow sentiments to ride to power. He said there was no place for the ‘son of soil’ thesis if the country was to remain united.

The right of every citizen to pursue education, employment, business or profession anywhere in the country was non-negotiable.
