TDP legislator resigns from Assembly

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Telugu Desam Party MLA and former Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu announced his resignation from the Assembly, protesting against the manhandling by the police on Sunday.

Angered by Minister for Commercial Taxes Konathala Ramakrishna’s explanation on allotment of houses under Indiramma housing scheme, he walked out from the review meeting.

Later, he staged a walkout and squatted on the road along with his supporters. The agitators blocked the convoy of the Minister.

The police tried to use mild force to clear the road and in the melee that followed, TDP men alleged misbehaviour by the police.

Mr. Patrudu told reporters that the police had manhandled him. In protest against violation of his privileges, he had faxed his resignation to Assembly Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy.
