Services, Gujarat retain titles

VISAKHAPATNAM: As expected, Services men and Gujarat women retained their team championship and individual titles in the 17th senior National triathlon championship held here on Sunday.

S. Mani Singh of Services clocked one hour 56 minutes and 30 seconds in the triathlon consisting of three events —1500m swimming, 40 km cycling and ten km run, closely followed by teammate Sunil Bishe.

Puja wins gold

In the women’s section, 17-year-old Puja N. Chourashi of Gujarat clocked two hours 15 minutes and 35 seconds to claim the gold finishing far ahead of her teammates Retiwalal Komal and Sarang Urvashi.

The results:

Men: 1. S. Mani Singh, 2. Sunil Bishe (both Services), 3. E. Sushil Singh (Delhi) 1:56:30.

Team championship: 1. Services, 2. Manipur, 3. Delhi.

Women: 1. Puja N. Chourashi, 2. Retiwalal Komal, 3. Sarang Urvashi (all Gujarat) 2:15:35. Team championship: 1. Gujarat, 2. Manipur, 3. Uttar Pradesh. — Special Correspondent
