Directive to BBMP

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde has directed the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to remove encroachments on Vittal Mallya Road and restore its original width.

This follows an inquiry into complaints by some residents accusing developers in U.B. City of encroachment.

Lokayukta Vigilance Director for Urban Development and other Lokayukta officials, along with officers of the BBMP and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, took measurements of the road.

Modified plan

During the inquiry, it was found that the BBMP has approved the modified plans of UB City given by the developer that shows the width of the road as varying from 13.6 meters to 19.6 meters.

Records

This was not in keeping with the records maintained by the Land Records Department that shows the width as varying from 14.65 meters to 21 meters.

Mr. Hegde has asked BBMP Commissioner S. Subramanya to take appropriate steps to restore the width of Vittal Mallya Road.
