Class IX students of The Village International School, Thodupuzha, visited Atomic Energy Education Society schools in Mumbai under a student exchange programme. During their week-long stay in Mumbai, the students attended classes and interacted with students and teachers of various Atomic Energy Schools. They also visited premier scientific institutions like Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Tata Institute Of Fundamental Research etc. Annual dayStudents of Seventh Day Adventist Higher Secondary School, Kaloor, presented cultural programmes in connection with the school’s annual day celebrations. Kurian Joseph, Judge, High Court of Kerala was the chief guest at the event. At a programme on national integration, the Union Jack was lowered and India’s Tricolour hoisted. Kindergarten students came on stage dressed in different attires, to show the country’s cultural diversity. A skit was presented on parental love, said Rosamma Mathew, principal. On road safetyAn awareness programme and quiz on road safety was held at the Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School, Chembumukku. The event was organised by the research institute of the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery, and was sponsored by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Play on Swathi TirunalStudents of the primary wing of The Choice School, Kochi, staged a play —A tribute to Maharaja Swathi Tirunal of Travancore — on their annual day. About 300 students from classes III and IV enacted the reign of the king, remembered for his patronage to music, dance and literature. Prince Rama Varma, a descendant of the king, was the chief guest at the function. Reception to writerA reception was organised at St. Philomena’s Public School, Elanji, to honour Perumpadavam Sreedharan, writer, who turned 70 years. He spoke of how much he valued the blessings of his teachers over fame and money. God’s care and the memorable days of childhood spent in his home town played a crucial role in moulding him, he said.
