Market committee procures 3,000 quintals Income of yard increased to Rs. 2.5 crore KARIMNAGAR: The Jammikunta agricultural marketyard, one of the biggest in Telangana region set a record by securing an all-time high price of Rs. 2,760 per quintal for cotton on Monday. Against the minimum support price of Rs. 2,050 per quintal, the farmers secured a whopping Rs. 2,760 per quintal, said Jammikunta Market Committee Chairman T. Sammi Reddy. He said, the yard had procured about 3,000 quintals of cotton by providing the highest rate to the farmers on Monday. Giving details about the performance of the Jammikunta market committee, he said that during the last three years a total of 13 lakh quintals of cotton worth Rs 169.80 crore, 10 lakh quintals of paddy and 5 lakh quintals of maize was procured. The marketyard’s income had increased from Rs. 1.86 crore to Rs. 2.5 crore by way of market cess during this financial year. He attributed record arrivals to abundant rainfall and bumper harvest.
