KOCHI: Lal Koyilparambil, president of the Kerala Swathanthra Matsyathozhilali Federation, has alleged that the police are trying to trap the federation’s secretary V.D. Majeendran as a Maoist because of the his association with evictions and other people’s agitations. Mr. Koyilparambil said in a statement that Mr. Majeendran had not been in any way associated with the activities of any Maoist group, nor with Porattam, Ayyankali Pada and other organisations. As part of the federation’s liaison with people’s agitations, Mr. Majeendran had been involved in the agitations at Plachimada, Moolampilly and Valanthakkad, he said. He alleged that the government was now throwing behind the bars those who take up people’s issues.
