BANGALORE: Although the protest by commercial vehicle operators has had an impact on industries and commuters, the impact is yet to be seen on the supply and availability of foodgrains, vegetables and fruits. Majority of the vehicles engaged in carrying vegetables continue to operate. Although the supply of foodgrains and pulses from outside the State has stopped, the market is yet to sense the impact of it as there is enough stock in the wholesale market yards. Bangalore Wholesale Food Grains and Pulses Merchants’ Association president R.C. Lahoti said that the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee yards and other wholesale yards in the State had enough stock for a week. Several trucks carrying foodgrains and pulses from other States had been stopped near the borders, he said. Vegetable and fruit merchants have not faced any difficulty until now as small-goods carrying vehicles, lorries and private buses had not stopped service.
