Hidden cameras proposed to check speed

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) has called for installation of hidden cameras on all accident-prone roads of the Capital and express highways leading to the Capital so that the violators are identified and punished. It has also suggested that stiffer penalties be imposed on those who violate speed norms, particularly at odd hours.

In a letter to the Delhi Chief Minister and the Lieutenant-Governor, ASSOCHAM secretary-general D. S. Rawat mentioned that it was high time vehicles plying on Delhi roads were fitted with speed governors. The Government should come up with mechanism to ensure that speed governors were fitted, he added.
