Yeddyurappa BANGALORE: Former Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader B.S. Yeddyurappa on Monday threatened to write a letter to the President and Prime Minister complaining against the behaviour of Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur who he said was favouring the Congress. Participating in a meet-the-press programme organised by the Press Club of Bangalore, Mr. Yeddyurappa said the BJP would draw the attention of the President and Prime Minister to the alleged “back-seat-driving” of the State administration by the Congress. The Congress and the Governor were not interested in the State’s development, he said, and described them as “two faces of the same coin”.
Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that the implementation of development projects, especially the budgetary schemes, in the State had slackened during President’s rule. Though only about a month was left for the close of the financial year, the State had been able to spend only around 50 per cent of its annual plan outlay of Rs. 17,782.75 crore. Similarly, the State had failed to make any impact in sectors like irrigation, rural development and education. He sought an explanation from the Governor on the reasons for the tardy progress in implementation of the budgetary schemes. Schemes like issuing of old age pensions under the Sandhya Suraksha Yojana, too, had suffered, he added.
